ISLAMIC BANKING & FINANCE SUMMIT HELD


Organized by IBK-Islamic Banking Kashmir

On 18th March, Islamic banking and finance summit was held at Hotel City Plaza Durganag Dalgate. The summit was attended by huge gathering besides some key Islamic banking scholars.

Dr. Iqbal Malik, the chief coordinator of the event started the proceedings & hosted the event. Dr. Mehboob Makhdoomi, the patron & founder-Chairman of IBK, addressed the audience online. The speakers of the event included Mufti Ashfaq who briefed the participants about the concept of Fiqh ul Maumlaat, Yasir Wani addressed by throwing light on Islamic Economic System. Taveer ibn Ashraf presented Shariah-complaint model for Kashmir Trade, Dr Nissar Yatoo cleared the difference between Islamic and conventional banking and Dr Nasir presented the importance of working towards a common goal. Besides Dr Fayaz Ahmad Lone and Mufti Arshid also delivered their speech to the audience.

The event concluded by discussing the key issues for creating awareness and advocacy of Islamic banking in Kashmir.

For Awareness it was decided to work on conducting an International conference on Islamic Economics, Finance and Banking system. The conference will include top Islamic economists of the world. Besides the local researchers in the field of economics and related subjects will be provided an opportunity to present the research papers on this subject.
Pertinent to mention that IBK-Islamic Banking Kashmir, an organization for awareness, advocacy and research of Islamic Banking in J&K was launched in January 2016. The organization has been involved in state-wide research in the field & been in touch with RBI and many other key stakeholders advocating implementation of Islamic Banking in J&K
